چکیده

• Microstructural features of a thick-walled WAAM stainless steel part are investigated. Microstructure exhibits periodically repeating characteristics across the part. Oriented and textured structure with large grains at overlapping region adjacent fusion zones. Significant spatial variations in terms zone shape, grain structure, texture, phases. Wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) is class technologies suitable for producing parts due to its high material deposition building rates. Among many possible materials processed by WAAM, austenitic steels, e.g. 316L, commonly employed. The 316L thin has been studied extensively before. However, multiwalled or thick remain largely unexplored. Hence, this study, microstructure 316LSi characterised detail. consists highly-oriented columnar dominated epitaxial competitive growth. regions between neighbouring zones contain long dominant <100> which cross several layers aligned direction. grains' internal an austenite matrix, ferrite locally varying dendritic morphologies dispersed oxide inclusions. texture spatially varies part, variation correlated local thermal gradient induced strategy processing conditions used during

Mechanical Properties of Additively Manufactured Thick Honeycombs

Honeycombs resemble the structure of a number of natural and biological materials such as cancellous bone, wood, and cork. Thick honeycomb could be also used for energy absorption applications. Moreover, studying the mechanical behavior of honeycombs under in-plane loading could help understanding the mechanical behavior of more complex 3D tessellated structures such as porous biomaterials. In ...

Characterisation of severely deformed austenitic stainless steel wire

The microstructure of 8 mm diameter wire produced by the severe deformation of 316L austenitic stainless steel has been examined using TEM and X-ray diffraction. The deformation imparted amounts to a true strain of 6.3. Data from previous studies on strain induced transformation of this steel have been combined with new results to show that true strains .2 are required in order to observe mecha...

Additively manufactured hierarchical stainless steels with high strength and ductility.

Many traditional approaches for strengthening steels typically come at the expense of useful ductility, a dilemma known as strength-ductility trade-off. New metallurgical processing might offer the possibility of overcoming this. Here we report that austenitic 316L stainless steels additively manufactured via a laser powder-bed-fusion technique exhibit a combination of yield strength and tensil...

Microstructural Study of 17-4PH Stainless Steel after Plasma-Transferred Arc Welding

The improvement of the surface qualities and surface hardening of precipitation hardened martensitic stainless steel 17-4PH was achieved by the plasma-transferred arc welding (PTAW) process deposited with Co-based alloy. The microstructure of the heat affected zone (HAZ) and base metal were characterized by optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron mi...
